Intertime: A Swiss family-owned company with a long tradition

When he founded the company in 1965, Hans Weibel laid the cornerstone for Intertime’s success story. He began to produce upholstered furniture – first in Zurich, later in Endingen in the canton of Aargau – that combined comfort, individuality and beautiful design. 1970 saw the launch of the Intertime Collection, which met with a positive response from the market. Just one year later, the first expansion became necessary in Endingen, and it was followed in 1995 by a second new building.

Today, Intertime is headed by Johannes and Lukas Weibel as a family-owned company in the second generation, and employs around 70 people. The Weibel brothers remain committed to the company’s ambition of offering perfect seating quality and variability.  However, with the generational change the company’s design focus was tightened and its orientation toward modern, streamlined, timeless designs was strengthened. As a result, a number of new Intertime models have received design awards. In 2011 the Jive armchair won the red dot design award, and the Lax sofa has received the iF Product Design Award and been nominated for the German Design Award 2011.
